Wibe Group Strikes Gold in Sustainability

Wibe Group has been awarded with The EcoVadis gold rating.

Wibe Group is proud to be among the sustainable elite but keeps striving for more

Wibe Group has been awarded with The EcoVadis gold rating. However, the gold rating isn’t the goal – it’s the actions behind it that matter. With massive investments and a thorough focus on transparency throughout the company and the value chain, the nearly 100-year-old company demonstrates that sustainability starts from within.

May 7th, 2025 – The steel industry currently accounts for around 7 per cent of global CO₂ emissions, making it one of the most challenging sectors to decarbonize. Yet, recent initiatives and ambitious partnerships show that meaningful change is possible. Wibe Group, a leading European provider of cable management solutions, has just been awarded with a Gold Rating from EcoVadis — placing it among the top 5 per cent of the most sustainable companies benchmarked worldwide, and within the top 1 per cent in the global steel product manufacturing industry.

“We’re fully aware that we operate in a carbon-intensive industry. That’s exactly why we believe we have a responsibility to lead.”
– Manjunatha BC, Sustainability Leader at Wibe Group

This recognition from EcoVadis, a globally respected sustainability ratings platform that has assessed over 130,000 companies, evaluates performance across four key areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

But for Wibe Group, the rating is not the headline — it’s simply a milestone on a much longer and ambitious journey

“Sustainability isn't a finish line, it's a mindset that influences everything we do,”
– says Manjunatha BC at Wibe Group and adds:
“We’ve made real progress, but we’re already looking ahead. Our ambitions are high – and that requires daily commitment, strong supplier relationships, and constant innovation. Our ultimate goal isn’t just to be seen as a sustainable company. We also strive to ensure that the communities around us are – and continue to be – proud of how Wibe Group is acting and contributing to a more sustainable future for the next generations”

A value chain built on responsibility

Wibe Group is advancing bold climate action by actively prioritizing key decarbonization levers across its operations. The company is steadily increasing its use of renewable energy, now reaching 60% of total consumption, while continuing efforts to electrify its vehicle fleet, procure steel with lower emission factors, and adopt fossil-free transport solutions. At the same time, Wibe Group is significantly strengthening its sustainability documentation processes to enhance transparency and accountability throughout its value chain.

This commitment extends across the supply chain. The company is proactively engaging its suppliers, whether in transport or materials, to provide Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data, helping to ensure transparent and accountable practices at every level

“We’re asking a lot of our ourselves – and our suppliers. It’s not about ticking boxes. We want to ensure every link in our value chain supports the bigger picture – reducing emissions, minimizing waste, and building smarter infrastructure for the future”
– says Manjunatha BC at Wibe Group.

Wibe Group’s next chapter includes bold goals and a clear direction. The next step is to achieve a Platinum EcoVadis rating – reserved for the top 1 per cent of all companies globally. But more than a badge, it represents a deeper mission: to shape a more responsible and regenerative industry, one decision at a time.

“We’re almost 100 years old but think like a startup. Curiosity, urgency, and collaboration are driving forces for us. We know the journey to Platinum will demand more, and we’re ready to meet that challenge head-on,”
– says Manjunatha BC, Sustainability Leader at Wibe Group.
