Infrastructure for the Life Sciences Building at the University of Oslo
The Life Sciences Building is Norway’s largest university building, covering nearly 100,000 square metres, and the country’s most advanced research hub. Designed to bring together leading expertise in life sciences, chemistry, and pharmacy, it will serve as a cornerstone for innovation and collaboration.
Optimal logistics with lean methodology
As the main supplier of cable management systems, Wibe Group has partnered with OneCo and Onninen to deliver approximately 60 kilometres of cable ladders and trays through meticulously planned, on-demand logistics. This approach ensures efficiency and precision throughout the project:
- • Complete packaging per room
- • Precise deliveries for production the following week
- • Reduced waiting time and waste
- • Improved workflow on the construction site
Cable routing as part of the ceiling
The cable management system was integrated into the building’s ceiling solution, making it possible to eliminate the traditional suspended ceiling—an early decision that resulted in significant cost savings for the project.
The Life Sciences Building will become a shared facility for leading university and hospital environments, strengthening Norway’s global competitiveness in life sciences. It will house both the University of Oslo and the Clinic for Laboratory Medicine (KLM) at Oslo University Hospital. By co-locating these institutions, the project fosters interdisciplinary research, drives groundbreaking solutions, and creates new opportunities for jobs and innovation.
A project built for the future—and Wibe Group is proud to be part of it.
